FORNASETTI UNVEILS THE NEW MILAN FLAGSHIP DESIGNED BY TUTTO BENE

A new spatial manifesto for the universe of Fornasetti set to debut during Milan Design Week

Milan, 26 March 2026 - On the occasion of Milan Design Week (20-26 April 2026), Fornasetti unveils the complete transformation of its Milan flagship on Corso Venezia, with a new entrance on Via Senato. Designed in collaboration with international design studio Tutto Bene, the project marks a significant new chapter in the physical expression of the Fornasetti universe.

More than a retail redesign, the new flagship reimagines how audiences encounter the world created by Piero Fornasetti and continued today under the artistic direction of Barnaba Fornasetti. Conceived as a spatial narrative, the project transcends the conventional retail model, establishing the brand as a living cultural system in which heritage, imagination, and everyday life coexist.

‘Nearly forty years ago I inherited something extraordinary and slightly impossible. What I have learned since then is that the most radical thing you can do with a legacy is to trust it enough to let it evolve,’ says Barnaba Fornasetti.

The architecture translates Fornasetti’s visual language into space, treating ornament as structure. Pattern becomes architecture, surfaces become narrative, and the store unfolds as a sequence of environments that invite visitors to move gradually from the public realm of the city into the intimate world of the brand.

'Working with Fornasetti felt less like engaging with a conventional brand and more like entering an artistic atelier’, say Oskar Kohnen and Felizia Berchtold, Co-Founders of Tutto Bene. ‘Our ambition was not simply to design a store, but to frame the brand as a living archive - one that honours its history while remaining curious, experimental and open to the present.’

A STORE STRUCTURED IN THREE LAYERS

The redesigned store unfolds across three floors, each offering a distinct way to engage with the Fornasetti world.

Entering from Via Senato, visitors arrive at a concierge desk that introduces the first spatial chapter: Fornasetti Space, conceived as a cultural threshold between the city and the Atelier.

During Milan Design Week, the space hosts Fornasetti Fiori by Fjura, a temporary floral residency led by Australian creative Simone Gooch, founder of Fjura. Within a minimal, gallery-like setting, sculptural floral arrangements interact with the architecture, which features steel panelling printed with enlarged Fornasetti vase motifs, transforming the everyday ritual of buying flowers into a living still life.

Clad in the Nuvolette wallpaper, the staircase acts as a threshold between the three levels: calm, graphic and slightly surreal.

Ascending to the first floor, the atmosphere shifts. Conceived as The Living Archive, this level unveils the Fornasetti universe through a clear and refined presentation of the catalogue. Drawing on archival and museum display typologies, objects are arranged in vitrines and cabinets, positioned to emphasise their repetition and variation. Ceramics, trays and decorative pieces appear as part of an expansive body of work, inviting visitors to explore the richness and internal coherence that define the Fornasetti universe.

In the bel étage, the experience becomes immersive. The second floor is conceived as The Apartment, a contemporary space composed of four interior environments. Each room explores a theme central to the Fornasetti imagination, from architecture and metaphysics to identity and astronomy. Objects are no longer simply displayed but placed within lived environments, allowing visitors to experience how the brand inhabits domestic space.

Across the project, Tutto Bene approaches the Fornasetti archive as material for spatial composition. The palette remains unmistakably Fornasetti: black-and-white contrasts, layered with shades of green and metallic accents in gold and silver. Materials are kept raw and legible so that objects carry visual richness.

The flagship’s renovation arrives at a moment when craftsmanship, authorship and individuality have regained cultural relevance. Within an increasingly digital world, the project emphasises tactile engagement and the emotional dimension of objects.

The reframing of the store as a living environment positions Fornasetti as a forward-looking creative universe. Ornament, long central to the work of Fornasetti, emerges once again as a contemporary act: a language capable of bringing imagination and meaning into everyday life.
